  • My work scares the shit out of me. In a way that I can barely hold on to it. It's like 'do I let go or will that be worse'. So I hold on. - Tao "dole artist' Wells

    • Wells Tao What would make the work less scary?
  • Wells Tao more money, a guarantee that I was free to not be a capitalist, that democratic wealth was there so that some can give back to society, shared with capitalism, in a way that isn't capitalist.
  • Charle Farnell Wells Tao bugger, does that mean time away from what you do?
  • Wells Tao I really have no idea, it appears to me like a 50/50 call
  • Charle Farnell Wells Tao paid work in something aligned with what you'd otherwise be doing?
  • Wells Tao I can't find a job that pays for what I do, it is a very specialized and narrow field. But my skills are broad and possibly I could fund myself, if I keep going.
  • Replied to you
Charle Farnell Wells Tao sounds possible. Back in my herstory in my 50's, I worked, but lived like a student for 3 years so I could be a student for a year. I tutored, picked commercial flowers for a neighbour, had a market stall, grew and processed hazel nuts. Etc etc. Had to stay very focused on the long game, cos I'm naturally inclined to lose myself in what ever I'm doing at the time.
  • Wells Tao Yeah I'm like stuck in that summer, picking commercial flowers, unsure, unable somehow to leave or reach goal, in your case then studentship. In my present case I want to be a very specific kind of teacher, one that doesn't know what he knows until it is shared. Big leap, not much to invest in. I guess like most things in a problem of scale and catagorisation
  • Charle Farnell So, the line becomes blurred between teacher and learner. Who is teaching and who is learning, does it matter....
Mmmh, can see the challenge in having that funded.

  • Wells Tao Does anyone else recycle their hot water bottle water? The same water back into the jug?

Wells Tao Charle Farnell not to drink, but for heating, reheating that sort of thing.
  • Wells Tao yeah me too, is it a cultural memory of sorts maybe.. like what comes to mind it's 'Scottish' as in tight (I"m a bit Scottish), but then I thought it also probably cause I worship clean water, and I have to filter my ordinary Dunedin tap water get the stink of chlorine out, it's fucking disgusting, worse than Nelson and that's saying something. Cause that water kills house plants if it's straight out of the tap. Seen it. And Dunedin's is worse than that. So i'm using that shit water over and over, and leaving the water I paid twice for, for me and the kids.

Charle Farnell Wells Tao same water into the hottie, that sounds good, but theres no way it would see the inside of my electric jug. It could have it's own little pot on the stove. I think Blenheim water is some of the best in NZ. Can stand at the tap and guzzle it, yum. Are you metered in Dunedin?
  • Replied to Charle Farnell
Charle Farnell I'm talking Blenheim town water. The aquaflows are being polluted around the vineyards, what with the poisons in treated vine posts and the amount of glyphosate sprayed.

  • Wells Tao Disgusting
