You see Dick Frizzell, Delaney Davidson and really unfortunately. all successful artist are Capitalists

  • Wells Tao You see Dick Frizzell, Delaney Davidson and really unfortunately. all successful artist are Capitalists. They think they're the bee's knees' cause they've succeed 'alone' and like any white business man love pointing out 'how it really works'. When all they really did is bring a commodity to the table that wouldn't upset 'anyone'.

The fact that one of our biggest public investment in the arts, University Fine Art Departments, get to promote themselves as 'independent artists' is a broad day light crime, and a broad piss in the face of transparency. Which robs our real communities of leadership and a visible economic path.

I'd like to see public- funded arts organizations openly support those who identify as artists on welfare and superannuation. And simply acknowledged that A democratic economy exists for those who volunteer their services with out capitalist market validation.

  • Dick Frizzell Delaney has sold out?!? crikey, that's a high bar!
  • Wells Tao yeah this idea of 'sold out' is one of those priceless differentiation markers that use to loosely refer to the democratic or socialist ideals of some art. Now the term is used to defend those who are uncomfortable being called out for their everyday capitalism.

Wells Tao and Roger Boyce, Dick Frizzell, when I said "sold", I mean I made money as a Welfare artist and self care mental health advocate. Practicing democratic socialist. Could you handle the long bout of concentration on that, or are we done?

    - what scares me most is you don't seem to have had any development from that work. Looking at your works on offer at the counter at Warehouse Stationary (Plug Capitalism) that work for me looks like the last time you were on planet earth. There should have been a follow up work that surpassed what you've left. a monument to Pakeha ignorance. When you discovered how insulting that was and why. I would love to see you have a work that redeems itself with awareness not ignorance.

Wells Tao Artist in Holland and Canada on welfare were a good investment, as not everyone can actually live and produce art once it gets real. And to find this out by doing it the whole society benefits, from a lot less mental health emergencies. Get a clue my fellow friends. There's a lot of miss placed faith in material forms and their value, let's start making the criteria visible.
