Professor Wolff at The Brecht Forum, 16/02/2011. Deleted Notes - Facebook 2010-20

  • tonight, 7:30 at The Brecht Forum, 451 West Street (between Bank & Bethune Streets), New York, NY 10014

Professor Wolff will be speaking at the Brecht Forum tonight at 7:30 for his monthly update on global capitalism. Information about the event is below.

I am writing to ask a favor of his personal contacts. Could you or anyone you know, assist with taping the event tonight? We need someone to bring a camera and set it up and film the event. It's very simple. We do not need high quality, just something we can post online so people can enjoy the talk as well. Please call me if you think you can help. 347-330-2670.

It would be much appreciated.

We focus on the evolving global capitalist economic crisis and its consequences. Topics examined include

    • the social costs and effects of unemployment, the housing crisis, deficits, exploding national debts and money creation
    • the issue of long-term economic decline for wage and salary-earners
    • “austerity programs” in Europe and mass resistance
    • crisis responses in China and other developing economies.

The goal is to develop a deepening understanding of the crisis as systemic and of basic social changes as preferred responses to it. Actual economic developments will shape the agenda for each monthly Tuesday meeting. Rick Wolff, with occasional guests, will present an economic update and an analysis of some particular economic topics and then open the floor to questions, comments and general discussion of where the US and world economics are going and the political implications. We aim to develop participants' understanding of and ability to explain to others the key economic developments of our time.

Sliding scale: $6/$10/$15
Free for Brecht Forum Subscribers
